Research networks

Our research is embedded in national and international collaborative networks that bring together complementary expertise in chromatin biology, nuclear organisation, RNA metabolism, quantitative biology, and computational genomics.

Together with colleagues at Justus Liebig University Giessen (Cornelia Kilchert, Sandra Hake, Katja Sträßer and Alexander Brehm) and the University of Marburg, we coordinate NuQuest, an international research consortium investigating the nuclear dynamics that regulate quiescence and other reversible non-proliferative cellular states. Despite its fundamental importance for development, tissue homeostasis, ageing and disease, quiescence remains poorly understood. NuQuest aims to uncover how nuclear organisation, chromatin architecture and RNA metabolism coordinate cellular transitions into and out of quiescence.

Previously, together with Nicolai Siegel (LMU Munich), we coordinated the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network Cell2Cell, which trained early-stage researchers in intercellular communication and cell biology.

We have also contributed to the DFG Collaborative Research Centre SFB 1064 – Chromatin Dynamics and participated in the European Network of Excellence EpiGeneSys.
