Reseach & Scientific Networks

Joint symposium of the graduate programs Cell2Cell and RTG2355  at JLU Giessen 2024

Our research is embedded in national and international networks that connect complementary expertise, models syteems, and methodologies across institutions and disciplines.

Together with colleagues in Giessen, Marburg, and partner institutions across Europe and beyond, we established the NuQuest consortium to investigate the nuclear mechanisms that regulate quiescence and other reversible non-proliferative cellular states. By integrating model systems from yeast to mammals, NuQuest aims to uncover how nuclear organisation, chromatin architecture, and RNA metabolism coordinate cellular transitions into and out of quiescence. In a recent review in Biomolecules, members of the consortium explored conserved principles of nuclear dynamics in quiescent cells across these diverse model systems.

Previously, together with Nicolai Siegel (LMU Munich), we coordinated the Marie Skłodowska-Curie doctoral network Cell2Cell, which brought together academic and industrial partners across Europe to train doctoral researchers through interdisciplinary research and international exchange.

Our laboratory has also been part of the DFG Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1064 – Chromatin Dynamics, investigating the dynamic organisation and regulation of chromatin.

 

 

We also contributed to the European Network of Excellence EpiGeneSys, which fostered interdisciplinary collaboration and methodology development in epigenetics across Europe.

 

Beyond these research networks, we are actively engaged in the German Genetics Society (GfG), which promotes scientific exchange and networking across the broad spectrum of genetics and epigenetics in Germany.
